A public lecture by Laura Galante, founder of Galante Strategies which assists governments, corporations, and private citizens in recognizing, and responding to, cyber and information threats. She previously served as Director of Global Intelligence at FireEye, where her teams investigated network activity, profiled advanced threats, and communicated the political, military, and financial implications of cyber operations. A founding member of Mandiant Intelligence, her work has involved leading strategic analysis, developing intelligence capabilities and offerings, and directing intelligence publications, including: APT28: A Window into Russia’s State Cyber Espionage; Red Line Drawn: China Recalculates its Use of Cyber Espionage; and Hacking the Street? Immigration Policy and Politics under the Trump Administration: What’s Happened and What’s Happening Next?
A public lecture by Angela Maria Kelley, the senior strategic advisor for immigration at the Open Society Foundations and Open Society Policy Center where her work focuses on the policies and politics of immigration and integration issues at the state and federal levels. From 2015 to 2017, Kelley served as the executive director of the Center for American Progress Action Fund and a senior vice president at the Center for American Progress (CAP). In 2014, she served as a White House advisor on immigration executive actions. From 2009 to 2014, Kelley was CAP’s vice president for immigration policy. She also was the director of the Immigration Policy Center and the deputy director of the National Immigration Forum where she managed the organization’s legislative, communications, and policy work. Kelley, a daughter of South American immigrants, began her career as a legal services attorney, representing low-income immigrants. She received a JD from the George Washington University Law School and she was a Georgetown University Law School Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellow.

One Nation After Trump
A public lecture by E.J. Dionne, Jr., a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post, and a university professor in the Foundations of Democracy and Culture at Georgetown University. A nationally known and respected commentator on politics, Dionne appears weekly on National Public Radio and regularly on MSNBC. He has also appeared on News Hour with Jim Lehrer and other PBS programs. He began his career with New York Times, where he spent fourteen years reporting on state and local government, national politics, and from around the world, including stints in Paris, Rome, and Beirut. Dionne has received numerous awards, including the American Political Science Association’s Carey McWilliams Award to honor a major journalistic contribution to the understanding of politics. He has been named among the 25 most influential Washington journalists by the National Journal and among the capital city’s top 50 journalists by the Washingtonian magazine. He was elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Chasing Coral, Documentary Film Screening
A documentary about the bleaching, and biodiversity loss, of coral reefs. This film documents changes happening between 2014-2017 and is edited from over 500 hours of footage, touching 30 countries, and involving the support of over 500 people across the globe.

From Chasing Coral to Chasing Conversations
A conversation with Chasing Coral Producer Larissa Rhodes, film producer and the Director of Creative Development at Exposure Labs, where she develops projects motivated by social impact. Most recently, she produced the Sundance Award Winning Chasing Coral, a feature film following a team of adventurers trying to reveal how the oceans are changing. It premiered along with a VR companion film at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and won the Sundance Audience Award. Rhodes previously worked on the Emmy® Award-winning documentary, Chasing Ice. She holds an MFA in Film from Columbia University and a BFA & BA from the University of Colorado in Film Studies and International Spanish for the Professions.
